The Planning Commission consists of five members appointed by the Mayor and the City Council to help plan for growth and development in Hawaiian Gardens. Members of the Planning Commission provide an invaluable service to the City. They advise the Mayor, City Council, and City departments on Hawaiian Garden’s long-range goals, policies, and programs on a broad array of issues related to land use, infrastructure, and neighborhood planning.
The Commission reviews and acts upon the following:
- Discretionary permit applications;
- General Plan amendments;
- Specific plans;
- Environmental impact reports and negative declarations;
- Tentative subdivision maps;
- Zoning and subdivision Ordinance amendments; and
- Special studies and reports
