The intent of the Business Revitalization Program is to improve the visual quality of commercial buildings, present an appealing image to potential customers, tenants and investors, and remove blighted conditions within the community.Program Description
The City of Hawaiian Gardens Business Revitalization Program will offer a rebate to business owners, churches, nonprofit organizations, and civic groups to help improve the overall appearance of commercial signs and buildings by providing financial assistance to applicants with business identification signs, exterior paint, landscape, and murals.Who is Eligible to Apply
To qualify for a rebate, the applicant must be a small (10 employees or less), independent, family-owned business that has a single location, church, nonprofit organization, or civic group, all which have been in the City for one (1) year. Business owners must get written permission from the building owner to apply or be the building owner. Franchises and large corporations will not be assisted under this Program.Financial Assistance
A rebate at 75% of actual construction cost up to a maximum of $7,500 is provided for businesses that do not have a permanent sign or for those with signs that are dilapidated or weathered. Financial assistance can also be used to paint the exterior of the building, for landscaping, seal coats on parking lots, parking lot lighting, security cameras, windows visible from street, exterior doors, and any other aesthetic improvements approved by the Community Development Director. Funds will be made available on a “First Come, First Served” basis. Funding for this program will be allocated from the City’s general fund.How to Apply
