Hawaiian Gardens, CA

The City of Hawaiian Gardens is a General Law City (not a Charter city) and governs itself as a Council-City Manager form of government. The City Council is elected by the constituents.

The City Council appoints the City Manager. The City Council establishes policies and the City Manager, assisted by the Department Heads implements said policies to provide quality service to the public and the community. The City Councilmembers must be Hawaiian Gardens residents and registered voters. City elections are considered non-partisan.

City Council Handbook

The City Council meets on a regular basis every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the City of Hawaiian Gardens City Council Chambers. A meeting of the City Council cannot be held without a quorum, which consist of three (3) or more members.

The Agenda is required by State law and governed specifically by the Ralph M. Brown Act. The Agenda provides a list of items and topics to be discussed, considered and acted upon by the legislative body. The agenda and staff reports are available at City Hall during regular business hours.

The Minutes are the formal record of the actions taken by the legislative body. After a meeting is conducted, minutes are prepared and presented to the legislative body for final approval and adoption. The approved minutes are maintained by the City Clerk’s Office and made official City records. The minutes are located in the agenda packets.
