CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS
REGULAR PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 6:00 P.M.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that I, BRENDA BECERRA, Planning Secretary, of the City of Hawaiian Gardens hereby gives notice and certify that Chairmember Grant Winford has called a SPECIAL MEETING of the Hawaiian Gardens Planning Commission to be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, commencing at 6:00 p.m. via ZOOM video conferencing.

THIS MEETING IS BEING HELD VIRTUALLY IN LIGHT OF THE GOVERNOR’S STAY-AT-HOME ORDER EXECUTIVE ORDER N-33-20 AND EXECUTIVE ORDER N-29-20 ALLOWING VIRTUAL MEETINGS. THIS MEETING WILL BE CONDUCTED ENTIRELY ELECTRONICALLY AND LIVE-STREAMED ON THE CITY’S WEBSITE WHICH CAN BE ACCESSED BY CLICKING HERE.

Please Note:  To join in, please use your computer, tablet or mobile device and go to this website and enter the meeting ID: 8916396592.  Those persons desiring to testify in favor of or in opposition to any of the public hearing items will be given an opportunity to do so.  However, persons may submit comments in advance prior to the meeting by emailing the planner at knguyen@hgcity.org by 4:00 p.m. on the date of the meeting. A staff member will read these public comment submissions into the record during the “public comments” portion of the agenda, provided that such comments (a) are submitted and received no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 7, 2020 ; (b) are no longer than 250 words; and (c) in accordance with Government Code section 54954.3(a), relate only to items listed on the agenda. Public comment submissions not meeting each of these criteria will not be read into the record.

3a. RESOLUTION NO. 2020-008/CASE NO. PLNG2019-0096MUP – A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, A REQUEST TO CONSIDER A MINOR USE PERMIT (MUP) TO ALLOW FOR A FITNESS TRAINING FACILITY, METROFLEX GYM, TO OCCUPY THE 17,640 SQUARE FOOT VACANT TENANT SPACE AT PROPERTY LOCATED AT 12551 CARSON STREET, HAWAIIAN GARDENS, CA 90716

CEQA DETERMINATION: Staff proposes that the project is exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental quality Act (CEQA) per Section 15301 (Class 1) of the CEQA guidelines.

RECOMMENDATION: Conduct Public Hearing. Waive further reading and Adopt Resolution No. 2020-008, for Case No. PLNG2019-0096MUP

 

3b. RESOLUTION NO. 2020-009/CASE NO. PLNG2020-0019MUP – A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, – A REQUEST TO APPROVE A MINOR USE PERMIT (MUP) FOR A 23 PERCENT PARKING REDUCTION IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE PROPOSED METROFLEX GYM LOCATED AT 12551 CARSON STREET, HAWAIIAN GARDENS, CA 90716

CEQA DETERMINATION: Staff proposes that the project is exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental quality Act (CEQA) per Section 15301 (Class 1) of the CEQA guidelines.

RECOMMENDATION: Conduct Public Hearing. Waive further reading and Adopt Resolution No. 2020-009, Approving Case No. PLNG2019-0019MUP

 
4. CONSENT CALENDAR
 
Items listed on the Consent Calendar are considered routine and will be enacted by one motion and one vote. There will be no separate discussion of these items. If discussion is desired, that item may be removed from the Consent Calendar and will be considered separately.

The Planning Commission, upon approval of the Consent Calendar will waive reading in full of all resolutions on the agenda and declare that said titles which appear on the public agenda shall be determined to have been read by title and further reading waived.

 
4a. RESOLUTION NO. 2020-010/CASE NO. PLNG2018-0054CUP AND CASE NO. PLNG2018-0104CUP – A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS, COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, A REQUEST TO ALLOW A ONE-YEAR EXTENSION OF THE PREVIOUSLY APPROVED CONDITIONAL USE PERMITS, FOR A NEW GASOLINE SERVICE STATION THAT OPERATES WITH A CONVENIENCE STORE (7-ELEVEN) AND AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE CONTROL TYPE 20 (OFF-SALE BEER & WINE) LICENSE, ON PROPERTY LOCATED AT 12300 CARSON STREET, CITY OF HAWAIIAN GARDENS, CA 90716.

PLANNING COMMISSION ACTION:
Waive further reading and Adopt Resolution No. 2020-010, Recommending approval of A one-year extension to Case No. PLNG2018-0054CUP and PLNG2018-0104CUP.

 

4b. Approval of the minutes for the Regular Planning Commission meetings of February 13, 2020.
