CITY CLERK’S OFFICE

The City Clerk’s Office does not currently have counter hours.  However, we are still open for limited business via email by reaching Lucie Colombo, City Clerk at LColombo@hgcity.org.  Due to COVID-19, staff is on an alternating work schedule and does telework, but does routinely and frequently check and respond to emails.  Following is a list of services we currently provide.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Planning:

we no longer have counter hours but we do take phone calls (562) 420-2641and e-mails throughout the day. Plans and applications can still be submitted electronically to jdonaldson@hgcity.org. Payment for services now being accepted online. All forms are also available online.

Building & Safety:

Services only available on Wednesday via email and phone calls (562) 420-2641. Plan checks may be submitted online at any time via this portal
 Inspections are only available on Wednesdays.

Engineering:

Services are only available via e-mail and phone calls (562) 420-2641. Plans checks may be submitted electronically to engnineering@hgcity.org. Inspections are only available on Tuesday and Thursday.

Housing:

services are available throughout the week but via email and phone calls (562) 420-2641.

Code Enforcement:

Services available throughout the week as well but via email and phone calls (562) 420-2641.


FINANCE DEPARTMENT

Finance Staff is continuing to provide essential services but some are working limited hours.  Email or phone messages will be reviewed by  staff when they are  in the office and they will provide responses as soon as possible. 

Accounts Payable:

Payments to vendors are still being processed and questions regarding payments may be directed to Accountspayable@hgcity.org

Business Licenses:

General information regarding business licenses can be viewed on the website.  To obtain additional information email Accountspayable@hgcity.org or call 562-420-2641 Ext 245.  Staff is working reduced hours and will respond when they are in the office.

City Hall Front Desk

A staff member is available at the City Hall front desk Monday through Friday between 8 and 5  to respond to calls that come to the operator at the  main phone number.  If the line is not answered, caller may leave a message with phone number and staff will call back to provide the necessary assistance. 


PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

The Public Works Department continues to provide essential services with modifications due to COVID-19 (corona virus).

Note, office hours are limited to Mon-Thurs 7:30am – 12:30pm via phone call only as City Facilities are closed. Should you not reach a person over the phone, please leave a detailed message so any questions or concerns can be addressed in a timely manner. Services include:

 Graffiti Removal:

Graffiti removal requests can still be reported 24/7. Please call (562) 420-2641 ext. 232 with address information and location (wall, sidewalk, door). Removal on Public property is usually addressed within 24 hours,

Broken Street Signs or Pot Holes:

To report broken/damaged street signs or a pot hole/street damage please call (562) 420-2641 ext. 202. Please include any detailed information available, i.e. type of sign, closest address, cross street, etc..

Street Light outages:

Report directly to Southern California Edison or call Public Works at (562) 420-2641 ext. 202. When you call, please include the closest address and the pole type (wooden or concrete). If available also include the Pole number. 

Parkways, medians, and misc.:

To report issues with right-of-way obstructions, leaking or broken irrigation, overgrown vegetation, etc. on public property such as parkways, medians, or sidewalks please call (562) 420-2641 ext. 202.


RECREATION & COMMUNITY SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Senior Meals:

The Mary Rodriguez Senior Center in conjunction with the Human Services Association, will continue to provide 5 frozen meals for the week.  Program registration is required prior to participation, if you would like more information please contact the Human Services Association at (562) 806-5400.

Senior Food Boxes:

The Mary Rodriguez Senior Center has partnered with the Community Action Partnership of Orange County to provide monthly food boxes for our low income seniors’ ages 60 years and older (must qualify under federal assistance guidelines). If you are interested in participating in the food box program, please contact the senior center staff for more information at (562) 420-2641 ext. 205.

Senior Wellness Calls:

City staff are making courtesy phone calls to check in on resident family members and friends. If you would like the city to reach out to you, a relative or friend, please call (562) 420-2641 x252.  Leave a message if necessary.   

Transportation:

All riders must be registered prior to their first appointment.  Call Monday – Friday 8:15 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (If calling after hours, please leave a message.)  Hawaiian Gardens residents age 55 years old and above and Hawaiian Gardens disabled residents, age 5 yrs and older (doctor’s certification needed) qualify for services.
