Name:
Petra Prida
Authority: Council Member |
Petra Prida was born on October 16 in Torreon, Coahuila
Mexico. In 1959 she moved to Hawaiian Gardens where
her brother was residing. She fell in love with
the city, and still loves living here. She is married
to former council member Robert Prida, and the mother
of 6 children, grandmother to 19 and great-grandmother
to 5 children. She likes to keep busy with community
affairs, getting to know their concerns and finding
out how the community is coping with life.
Mrs. Prida’s community work includes volunteering
at the food bank, serving on the Hawaiian Gardens
Public Safety Commission for six and half years,
as well as working with seniors and teens. She decided
to run for public office to help the residents.
Mrs. Prida counts as accomplishments her work on
the Hawaiian Gardens Casino, the building of Clarkdale
Park, support of Head Start, and the seniors nutrition
program (which today is the only program in the
State where residents are served free lunches every
day).
In the future she plans to continue her service
for the community by establishing a new library
for the city and working on the new and permanent
Casino buildings.
Her motto is: "Be
of service always to the residents and a friend
to the community. Never make a promise you cant
keep." |
