Lee Ware Pool is an outdoor swimming pool that provides a great variety of free programs and activities to the entire community ages 3 months to Seniors . Programs offered include swim lessons to youth, teens, adults, and seniors, aquatic aerobics, recreational swimming, movies at the pool, swim team, and the annual water Olympics. Admission is FREE

Recreational Swimming

Beginning Memorial Day weekend Lee Ware Pool is open from 12:00pm-4:30pm every weekend.

Recreation Swimming

Monday – Friday 1:00pm-5:00pm

Saturday – 12:00pm-4:30pm

Sunday- Closed


Lee Ware Pool Rules

  1. All persons must obey rules and requests made by the lifesaving personnel.
  2. Children under six (6) years of age or under 48” height must be accompanied by an adult.
  3. Street shoes and clothes must not be worn on the pool deck
  4. Swim suits or trunks must be worn by persons on deck or in the water (no cut off shorts).
  5. Infants who wear diapers must wear swim diapers.
  6. Suntan lotions or oils may not be used by sunbather or swimmers within the pool area.
  7. Showers should be taken by all pool users before entering the pool.
  8. Smoking, eating, chewing gum and drinking bottled or canned beverages on the pool premises is not allowed.
  9. Lying on the pool deck is prohibited.
  10. Non-swimmers must remain in the shallow water, no deeper than their armpits.
  11. No running on the pool deck.
  12. No diving in the shallow end.
  13. Horseplay and dangerous practices are prohibited at all times.
  14. Spitting, spouting of water or blowing the nose in the pool is strictly prohibited.
  15. No person may interfere with an emergency rescue, accident or drill procedures.
  16. Green bags must stay inside the pool fence.
  17. Toys, floaters, or inflatable miscellaneous items are not allowed in the pool
  18. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS.
  19. Any complaints must be addressed to the Pool Manager.

Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons are offered to all age groups starting from 3 months to Senior age group. Learn to swim in a fun environment. Registration begins Memorial Day Weekend. Space is limited. All swim lessons are free of charge.

Although swimming lessons are available to the public, residents of Hawaiian Gardens have priority in the registration process.

Thank you for your interest on having your child in our swimming lessons program. The following are the swimming lessons policy. To have a successful program, we ask you to please read carefully our swimming lessons policy.

Swimming Lessons Policy

  1. All students must be 6 yrs to 16 yrs of age or at a minimum of 48 inches height.
  2. All students 6 yrs and under and under 48 inches height must to be in the “Mommy & Me” program.
  3. All students must attend first day of class. If student misses the first day of class, he/she will be automatically dropped.
  4. If a student misses more than three days, he/she will be dropped from class .
  5. If a student arrives 15 minutes late, it will be considerate as absent.
  6. All classes run for 45 minutes, 3 days a week (Mon/Wed/Fri). Mommy and Me classes are on Saturday morning.
  7. All female students must wear swim suits.
  8. All male students must wear swim trunks.
  9. Infants that wear diapers must wear swim diapers.
  10. Goggles are not obligated but recommended.
  11. Sun block must be applied 15min to 30min before class. When applying sun block, make sure no white marks are left on your child’s body.
  12. All students must shower before entering the pool.
  13. No running on pool deck.
  14. All parents must wait for students outside the gate.
  15. Any complaints must be address to Pool Manager.
  16. You must pick up your child right after class.

The mommy and me programs offers an initial introduction to water for infants. This program introduces your child to fun in the water, and provides a teaching technique for parents to assist their toddles the principal skills of aquatics. Infants wearing diapers must wear swim diapers.


Youth Swimming Lessons

Ages 5yrs-17yrs
(48 inch minimum height requirement)

Adult Swimming Lessons

Ages 17yrs and up

The adult swimming lessons is a program designed to help the adult and seniors learn to swim in a fun and safe environment. The class is offered to ages 17 and older and is taught from initial swim skills to advance level. This class allows individuals who never had the opportunity to swim or are afraid of the water an introduction to the aquatic world.


Swim Team

Ages 6yrs-16yrs

Monday/Wednesday/Friday

5:00pm – 6:00pm

H.G Sharks Swim Team is a competitive team, a place for children to explore a different talent, and interact with kids of all ages. The participants range as young as 6 years old to 16 years old. The team has set rules that are provided to them on the first weeks of practice. The program offers a free Wild Rivers trip at the end of the season, as well as a formal Banquet held at one of the City’s Hall Rooms. Discipline is essential to the program; and swimmers who have missed practice constantly are excluded from the team, while the members who have demonstrated their commitment to the team become permanent members of the Swim Team and are provided with free swim equipment (out of cost) such as an equipment bag, that includes the team bathing suit, goggles, and a swim cap.


Water Olympics

Ages 5yrs-16yrs
Saturday August 16

10:00am-4:00pm

The Water Olympics is an event for Hawaiian Gardens’ residents that are willing to demonstrate their swimming abilities. The event offers children the opportunity to compete in an advance level and give them the feeling of being at the Olympics. Swimmers compete in five different events such as backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle, and kickboard.
