The City of Hawaiian Gardens Public Housing Authority is offering financial assistance to anyone who owns one or two single family residence on a single parcel and wants to rehabilitate the exterior of their home or provide for exterior improvements. Condominiums only qualify for interior improvements. Program funding is available one time only.

Grants of $2,500, $15,000 and $25,000
Abesentee Landlords 70% rebate

  • Previously assisted program applicants are ineligible to reapply.
  • Illegal structures that cannot be permitted must be demolished in order to bring properties into compliance.
  • Applicants who withdraw from the Program due to Code violations will be referred to Code Enforcement to ensure compliance.
  • The age of the home must be more than ten (10) years.
  • Homes for sale or under construction are ineligible.
  • Grants up to $15,000 for exterior improvements for single family dwelling.
  • Grants up to $2,500 are also available to owners in financial hardship for emergency cases.
  • Grants up to $25,000 may be provided for substandard dwellings determined by City’s building inspector.
  • Grants may not be combined with other financial assistance under this Program.

MOBILE HOMES are eligible for grants up to $7000.

  • Previously assisted program applicants are ineligible to reapply.
  • Illegal structures that cannot be permitted must be demolished in order to bring properties into compliance.
  • Applicants who withdraw from the Program due to Code violations will be referred to Code Enforcement to ensure compliance.
  • The age of the home must be more than ten(10) years.
  • Grants up to $2,500 are also available to owners in financial hardship for emergency cases.
  • Assistance of up to $25,000 may be provided for substandard owner occupied mobile homes; these funds may be allocated to a maximum of two (2) program applicants per year.
