Notice of Construction to the Residents and Businesses of Hawaiian Gardens

Carson Street Beautification Project

Construction on the $2,600,000 Carson Street Beautification Project started May 30, 2017 and the work is progressing according to schedule.  The City awarded a contract to Sully Miller Contracting Co. for the construction of street improvements along Carson Street, from Pioneer Boulevard to Norwalk Boulevard.

The proposed work will encompass the reconstruction of curb and gutters, wheelchair ramps (14), construction of decorative sidewalks (14,700 sq. ft.) and crosswalks (8,900 sq. ft.), solar powered bus shelters (2), installation of electrical conduits (6,575 ft.), pedestrian lights (60), tree lights (34), banner posts, decorative wrought iron fencing at drainage channel, planting of trees and palms (95), installation of landscaping and irrigation, traffic signal improvements (4 intersections), striping, signage improvements, etc.

Currently underway are the removals of concrete sidewalks, median island vegetation, installation of electrical and irrigation crossings, construction of stamped colored crosswalks and construction of wheelchair ramps.  The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2017.

Regular working hours will be between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

During construction there will be “Temporary No Parking” signs posted on your street indicating the specific dates of work that will be performed on the street.  There may be some traffic delays and other construction caused inconveniences, however, Sully Miller Contracting Co. will do its upmost to mitigate these disturbances as much as possible during construction.

We ask for your patience and cooperation during construction and to please obey all traffic detours, traffic control and to refer to the “Temporary No Parking” signs for dates of construction which will posted at least 48 hours prior to work beginning on each project phase.

Also we would like to request the following:

  1. Do not allow water to run on the roadway.
  2. Do not allow children to enter the construction areas.
  3. Do not place trash can or other debris on the roadway. Your trash, recycling and green waste bins will be picked up as usual.

We regret any inconveniences that this work may cause you and thank you for your cooperation in assisting in making these improvements in your City.
